Anushka Sharma: I am single and lonely

Anushka Sharma: I am single and lonely

She is often called a Yash Raj favourite. Which is why it came as a surprise when it was revealed that Anushka Sharma would not be part of the production house's venture, Habib Faisal's Ishaqzaade, and that the role went to Priyanka Chopra's cousin, Parineeti, instead.
In fact, according to the B-town buzz, Anushka wasn't given the part because she was considered too loud for the role. "This is another rubbish report. This film was supposed to be made with newcomers (Boney Kapoor's son Arjun will also make his debut in this film) and I am no longer one," says Anushka, adding, "I have known Parineeti for some time as she was on Aditya Chopra's marketing team and wanted to become an actor. I believe she is good for the role."
However, Anushka is doing the sequel to Veer-Zaara, which will see her share screen space withShah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif. What's more, the film will mark Yash Chopra's return to direction after seven years. "It is a great honour to be in a Yash Chopra film and this film is the high point of my career. I look forward to sharing screen space with Shah Rukh and Katrina," says Anushka.
Meanwhile, the Band Baaja Baaraat (BBB) actor, who is teaming up again with her ex Ranveer Singh in Ladies vs Ricky Bahl, confesses she is keen to act with him again. "Why not, if we get a challenging script?" she asks, adding, "It was the same team as the one that worked on BBB and we all had a great time on the sets, but this film is very different from that one." Anushka will also make a departure from the bubbly roles she has played so far with Vishal Bhardwaj's Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola opposite Imran Khan. "But contrary to what is being reported, I am not playing a pyscho chick in the film - it's the role of a girl who is not so normal," she says.
And while reports about her on-off relationship with co-star Ranveer abound, Anushka maintains she is single. "I have no love life at the moment. In fact, I am completely single and lonely," she says.

Jackky to play 12 characters in a film

Jackky to play 12 characters in a film
Post-Faltu's successful run, Jackky Bhagnanimay have gone silent but it appears the actor isn't whiling away his time.

He has been putting work before play - reading scripts and working out for his next, Raj Kumar Santoshi's Ghajab Haseena Ajab Deewana.

While he has been approached for several projects, he has decided to adopt a one-film-at-a-time strategy, a la Aamir Khan. It might just be the right thing to do, given that Santoshi has been keeping the boy busy with a series of workshops and readings to help him get into character. He plays 12 different characters in the film.

No stranger to gruelling diets and fitness regimes, he has been working on getting even fitter.

His trainers have him on a very challenging crossfit training programme, used by police and military forces worldwide.

A unit hand reveals more details. "The film's looking great. The script is hilarious and performance-oriented at the same time. Jackky has to play characters across generations, a challenge for any actor."

Aishwarya Rai baby: Taslima wants baby girl for the actress

Aishwarya Rai baby: Taslima wants baby girl for the actress

Controversial author Taslima Nasreen wishes actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has a baby girl as that will further the feminist agenda.

She tweets, "I love Aishwarya Rai. But when I said 'I wish she would give birth to a baby girl', people asked me, 'Why do you hate Aishwarya?'" In response to another tweet, she asked, "Why do you think if I say it should be a female baby, is not a healthy baby?"
Asked to explain her advocating a girl child, she said, "But her having a daughter can encourage millions of couples not to kill their unborn female babies."

SRK gifts luxury cars to Arjun, Rajini

SRK gifts luxury cars to Arjun, Rajini

G.One might have failed to become a successful superhero, but he still is a super 'friend'. Shah Rukh Khan, who is known for his generous gifting, has recently ordered five brand new BMW 7 series sedans for those who helped him make RA.One.

According to sources, the list of lucky recipients of this extremely expensive gift includes Arjun Rampal, who played the title role, directorAnubhav Sinha and the south Indian superstar Rajinikanth, who made a cameo appearance in the film.

A source informed Mumbai Mirror, "Shah Rukh has decided to gift one of the five BMW to Anubhav Sinha. One car will go to Arjun Rampal. Since Rajinikanth flew down to Mumbai to shoot specially for his cameo in the film, he'll get one car."

"There are two more people on the gift list. However, no one is aware of SRK's plans. The cars have already been booked with a local dealer. Once the delivery comes through, the gifts will be on their way," added the source.

Talking about the actor's previous generous gifts, the source said, "Shah Rukh has always been a generous friend. Earlier, he had gifted Farah Khan a Hyundai Terracan during the making if Main Hoon Na. He even gifted her a Mercedes during Om Shanti Om."

Meanwhile... Anubhav Sinha, who will very soon be the lucky owner of a BMW 7 series sedan, currently needs a phone more than a car. The filmmaker, while travelling in Los Angeles, lost his mobile. What's worse, the man who has found Sinha's phone is chatting to all the contacts on his list posing to be the filmmaker.

Not too happy with the situation, Anubhav Sinha said, "I was in LA for the screening of RA.Oneand I stayed back since I wanted a break. While visiting a friend's place, I left my phone in the cab. After I returned to India, I was talking to this friend who told me that he had been chatting with me all this while. Which was impossible since I did not have my phone."

"On Wednesday, Shah Rukh told me that he spoke to me on chat. I was shocked. I don't know what to do about it now. I don't know who the guy is. There are so many actors on my chat list. I just hope this person doesn't do anything stupid using my name," added the filmmaker.

Sonam parties with papa Anil

Sonam parties with papa Anil

They're the perfect father-daughter jodi, be it good looks, talent or style. Even recently, at the BT party, the jodi walked in together and partied in each other's company.

But when Anil had to leave early, Sonam (like the sweet daughter) also started to wrap-up. zoOm asked her why she wasn't staying back to let her hair down and she said that she had to leave only because papa had an early morning shoot. When we asked what her plans were forthe rest of the night, she replied, "I'll just go home, curl-up on my bed and read a book." Well, that's rather cute Sonam... doing what papa kehte hai...!

I feel like laughing at Swami Agnivesh: Sara Khan

I feel like laughing at Swami Agnivesh: Sara Khan

Remember Sara Khan who courted a lot of controversy while being in the Bigg Boss house during season four?

The actor, who has been shooting for a serial titled " Ram Milaayi Jodi", has now done an item number for Reshmi Mitra's Bengali film titled "Macho Mustafa".

Says Reshmi, "We shot in Hyderabad for a week with Sara. Contrary to other item girls, Sara has a very different look. For my film, I didn't want someone who is loud. Sara has expressive and bright eyes and is blessed with an innocent face. Of course, Sara's popularity in "BB" definitely influenced us to cast her. The song, composed by Samidh Mukherjee and sung by Kalpana, has been choreographed by Pradip Antony. Pradip is very big down South. Apart from Sara, the scene also has Arun Banerjee and Hiran." Meanwhile, Sara who returned to Mumbai on Thursday after shooting this song, is happy with the experience. "It's a solo number and I really enjoyed my experience of shooting it. Bengali is a sweet language and though I didn't understand Bengali, I could still get the meaning of the song. In future, if good offers come my way, I am ready to do Bengali movies as well," Sara says.

While shooting for her serial is keeping Sara busy, she is aware of what's happening in the Bigg Boss house now. She is amused with the claims of Swami Agnivesh wanting to make the contestants aware of the "pathetic condition" of the girl child in society, how many girl children are killed in the womb and how many women are burnt alive in the name of sati. "I am a blunt person. Please give us a break. If Swami Agnivesh really wants to preach such stuff, he should do it outside the house. Do you think the contestants are there in the house to listen and conduct themselves according to him? We might be watching an idiot box but we are no idiots to believe all this. I just feel like laughing when I listen to all this that this Swami is saying. And why should he be allowed to stay in a separate room? Isn't everyone supposed to be equal inside the House?" Sara says.

So, will she admit that a reality show like "BB" is scripted? "No," Sara insists, adding, "Nothing is scripted. I can vouch for that. It's people inside who make it seem like that."

Finally, is Sara still in touch with Ashmit Patel? "Ashmit is like my brother. We try and catch up once in a month." Does she know about Veena Malik shooting a swayamvar show? "I am not in touch with her. But I have nothing bad against her." And Ali Merchant, with whom she had got married on "BB" house and subsequently separated from? "No, I am not in touch with him. The whole world knows about it and I don't entertain any questions on him," she concludes.

Neha Dhupia turns lingerie designer

Neha Dhupia is turning into a businesswoman by branching out into designing lingerie and shoes.

The actress has been working on the idea for months and is currently putting finishing touches to it. Working closely with a team of designers, she is personally selecting the innerwear and shoe styles that will be sold on a website.

A source reveals, "Neha has a huge collection of shoes and keeps adding to it whenever she travels abroad. She felt there wasn't an avenue for women to get quality stuff here, so she's decided to get involved and come up with a one-stop shop for lingerie and shoes."

Neha confirms, "I've always felt that shoppers are extremely shy when it comes to buying lingerie and I wanted to give them an option where they could pick up stuff without inhibitions. I always buy shoes and lingerie on my trips abroad, and felt that those who can't should be given the option of buying it from the comfort of their own homes. I will personally be involved in selecting the designs and products that will be showcased online."

The actress adds that her lingerie line will be both comfortable and sexy. "It will be attractive and at the same time high on comfort. There will be a wide variety of styles and colours to choose from, so there will be something for everyone." Even though she will not be modelling the lingerie herself, Neha says she might do so in the future. "I plan to do everything to make this venture a success, other than going to the doorstep and delivering the products myself!" she laughs. "I wouldn't mind modelling for my lingerie line once it becomes popular."

Indians won’t accept Veena Malik as their bahu: Rakhi Sawant

Now that the promotional pictures of Veena Malik shooting for her forthcoming Swayamvar on telly have already leaked in the press, our original item gal Rakhi Sawant is not ready to accept Veena in her new avatar.

'I protest!'

Rakhi, who had appeared in the first edition of Swayamvar on Imagine TV, says rather candidly: "I protest against the choice of celebrity! Arre Indian celebrities ko lena chahiye tha! I don't think Indian parents will accept Veena Malik as their bahu. After all, she's a Pakistani national! I could understand if this show was happening in Pakistan! I am really sure that Shiv Sena and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena will not allow a Pakistani star to have such a marriage in India!"

'Lost faith!'

Ask Rakhi if she's ready for another Swayamvar, and she says, getting emotional: "Honestly speaking, after seeing my parents' marriage, I have lost all faith in marriage. I don't marriage is a great institution! But still, if I get a good proposal, I may think about marriage some day."

I'm not an entertainment material: Swami Agnivesh

urprise entry in 'Bigg Boss 5', Swami Agnivesh, believes in extracting the good from everyone, even criminals!

This year, many spiritual/social leaders like Anna Hazare, Baba Ramdev and Swami Arvind have appeared onreality shows. Have reality shows become irresistible?
Not for me, at least. When I decided to take up the "Bigg Boss" offer, I had a different plan. When I consulted people, I was asked to shelve the idea. There was no positive feedback. Kaafi disappointing tha. That's when I watched the show about four times and felt that accepting the offer was about accepting a challenge. Show dekh ke maine socha, yeh toh kharaab nahin hain. Achhey naujawaan hain. Negativity seeps in when you are detached from the world and locked inside the house. My only motive is to be a friend to them, and help them engage in social issues. Naujawaan mein toh bahut potential hoti hai, thoda sa uska sapna jagaiye toh kahaan se kahaan pahunch jaye.
Are you entertainment material?
Not at all. That's why it won't be easy for the channel. In fact, the channel has a bigger challenge to face, since they are getting a person like me, someone who can't entertain the viewers.
Don't you think that by the time you come out of the show, you'll have become entertainment material?
Nahin, main kisi ke liye bhi entertainment material nahin ban paaonga. This is because I have always been involved in discussing issues that deal with the harsh realities of life. Main aise hi logon mein raha hoon. Aur waise hi bana rahoonga.
But this looks like television channels are now cashing in on the sudden popularity of social activists for higher TRPs...
May be, may be not. I have no clue if channels pressurise popular faces or they themselves are under pressure to get spiritual leaders or social activists to appear on their shows. The channel wanted me to change the atmosphere in the house. They want positivity in the house. So, when they approached me, I was like, 'Badhiya hai'. If TRPs go up because something positive is happening, what's the harm? Mujhse shuddh TRP ke naate se koi ummeed nahin kar sakta. I have never worked on other people's agendas. Main mazaak mein kehta hoon, jab main apne baap ka nahin hua, apna ghar nahin basaya, apni naukri chhod di 45 saal se, toh main kisi aur ke agenda par kaam nahin kar raha. Apne agenda par agar koi bula raha hai aur freedom de raha hai, apni baat ko kehene ka, toh isse unki TRP badh jaye ya ghat jaye, kya pata? Kyunki log entertainment channel se khaas tarah ki ummeed karte hain.
In the last 45 years, I have appeared on different shows and the motive has only been to engage people so that they transform socially. This social transformation should be peaceful and non-violent. Iske liye hamne har platform ka upyog kiya hai.
Did you get the offer because you are no stranger to controversies - be it your decision to leave Team Anna, or a video that showed you asking the government to be tough on "adamant" protesters from Team Anna, or the fact that you accused Kiran Bedi of mismanaging funds, or even the recent letter you wrote to the Pope?
If you see the work I have done in the last 45 years, all of it has been controversial. Main lagataar news mein hi raha hoon. Be it going against Naxalites, participating in a long march organised across Haryana in October 1968, becoming a sanyasi, taking the decision to enter politics, launching my political party in 1970, winning elections and then becoming the education minister - nothing has been easy. Later I resigned and took up the bonded labour cause. The only message I want to put across is that controversies needn't only create a negative impact or emerge from negative situations.

We have had Swami Arvind and Baba Ramdev being targeted by Rakhi Sawant. Don't you think your stay in the house, dominated by female contestants, can make life difficult for you too?
Main inko toh apne beti aur beton ke baraabar manta hoon. Yeh sirf socialise karne wali ladkiyan nahin hain. I see a lot of potential in them. I know Pooja Bedi and Laxmi because they have taken up social causes. I want to understand them and help them think positively. I don't want to think about things like what did Rakhi Sawant do, or what if someone behaves with me that way... Main toh alag paristhityon mein jaakar unmein positivity hi dekhta hoon.
Swami Arvind accused Rakhi of molesting him, Baba Ramdev too slammed Rakhi for her indecent proposal to him. Are you expecting something similar to happen to you?
No, I don't think something indecent will happen to me, because I will be respectful towards them. Also, they are younger to me - we will be more like friends. I'm sure they will speak to me in a dignified way.
People in the Bigg Boss house use swear words and lose their temper very quickly, and that too for no reason. Do you think you will be able to handle them without reacting in the same way?
It is all about how you maintain your cool. I'm mentally very tough so nobody can provoke me. No matter how much others will try to instigate me, I will not say anything wrong. Spiritualism is also about not losing your temper easily. So, the challenge lies in how to live peacefully. There is enough politics in the house, I want to help them become spiritual now. My strategy to stay in the house depends on the response that will come from my fellow contestants.
What if Pooja Missra tries to mess with you?
If we say, some people are completely wrong - that's not right. Each one has a role to play. Agar inmein se hi achhai ko nikaal sakein toh yeh bhi heeree ho jate hain. There have been occasions, when criminals transform into revolutionaries. Pooja Missra revolutionary ban sakti hai - yehi ummeed leke jaa raha hoon.
